Polyps In The Stomach
While polyps in the colon are fairly common, polyps in the stomach are found less often. Most stomach polyps are "hyperplastic" and have a low cancer potential. When found, they are usually biopsied. If the biopsy shows "adenomatous" or dysplastic (pre-cancerous) changes, frequent assessment and removal may be needed. Most stomach polyps do not cause any symptoms, but sometimes they can slowly bleed and lead to iron deficiency anemia.
